Get out of Los Angeles

Sometimes you need to get away. Even if it’s just for one little overnight at Joshua Tree. So grateful for the overcast and cloudy weather this past weekend. I’m grateful every time I make the decision to drive through the Joshua Tree National Park. It is simply a magical place.

Bring Your Camera

You can’t take a bad picture in this place. Each time I go, the light is different and I capture the space in a unique way. I brought my Sony A7iii and 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS. I’m loving this rig so much! I can get pretty close up … not quite ‘macro’ close, but close enough to make friends with my little White-tailed Antelope Squirrel. See below.

Hydrate

Bring snacks and extra water. You may get out of your car and find yourself walking a little longer than you had planned or not planned. Happens all the time! Be prepared.

Other stuff

You may not have cell service and the National Park App is great to have. Download it!  Also, when you’re done in the park, go get yourself some awesome barbecue at Pappy & Harriet’s and catch some great live music. Then walk through Pioneertown. You will feel like you are in your own Western film.

Enjoy the photos!
